Hello there! My name is Kari and I created this site in hopes that it will help me stay on
track as I lose weight using Weight Watchers. I have been doing Weight Watchers since
September 5, 2002 and I figure I have another year to go as I struggle to lose over 100
pounds.
Losing weight is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It is a constant struggle for me
to not knosh all day long. I think if I was attracted to lovely raw veggies I wouldn't be
in this situation, but I love grains, cheese, butter and sweets. I also live in the
Midwest, which is not necessairly known for its healthful trends and foods. Also, the
weather tends to send many people into "hibernation" mode in the fall/early
winter and pack on the pounds. Ugh!
To tell the truth, since January of 2003, I have lost most of my steam and have been
gaining and losing the same 10 pounds. I have been pretty depressed about the whole thing,
and then that sends me into binge mode. At this time I am not able to afford to attend
Weight Watcher meetings, but I do a weekly weigh in/exercise night with two of my aunts
and another mutual friend. My two aunties really motivate me, and we are all doing so much
better working together.
Here in this site, you will find many things to hopefully help you on your weight loss
journey. I have a weight loss blog (journal), recipe section, photos and much more. Please
take a few minutes to browse around and check things out.
Where did the "Lust for Life" title come from? Lately, I have been feeling like
I have just beeng going through the motions of living. You know, doing just enough to get
by. After hearing one of my all time favorite songs, Lust for Life by Iggy Pop on one of
those obnoxioius cruise ship commercials, I couldn't get it out of my head. When I decided
to over-haul this site (yes I know, yet again.) I thought it was the perfect title. I want
my lust for life back, not just lust for food. Kind of like the saying "Eat to live,
not live to eat."
(I got this from Pixie - it was
too good to pass up on. Thanks Pixie!)
